Knox Roofing and GAF Corporation Support
Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz, CA October 9, 2012- Knox Roofing in conjunction with GAF Corporation recently donated roofing materials and installation to Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County. The in-kind donation was a significant contribution to the Blake Lane build in Scotts Valley. The new roofs were installed on three townhomes currently being built by Habitat for Humanity volunteers.

David Foster, executive director of Habitat for Humanity, commented that We are very appreciative that Knox Roofing and GAF made this donation to support our construction project on Blake Lane. Habitat for Humanity builds houses with volunteer labor, donations of material and financial contributions. Blake Lane is no exception. Throughout the past year of construction at the Blake Lane site, more than 7,000 volunteer hours have been completed in addition to the hours completed by the future homeowners. By utilizing volunteers, in-kind donations and community donations, Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County is able to keep the building costs low and pass this savings on to the future homeowners.

The Blake Lane homeowners were selected during the summer of 2011, and have been diligently working on the project. Each family selected by Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County must complete 500 Sweat Equity hours as a contribution to the project. As the future homeowner, Kindra Jeffries puts it, It is all in the name: Habitat for Humanity. We feel excited and thankful to Habitat for Humanity for giving our family a chance to have a beautiful home of our own. A place where we can live happily ever after."

The generous in-kind donation of supplies and labor by Knox Roofing and GAF Corporation will allow the Blake Lane project to continue to move forward. The completion date for this build is set for March 2013. Habitat volunteers and the future homeowners are excited about the progress of the project and the community support thus far. Volunteers are on the Blake Lane site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
